The Doreen Dingle Award being presented to Rob Young by Dave Reece (Vice Chair)
It’s taken a while but we finally caught up with this year’s winner of the Doreen Dingle Administrator Award, Rob Young. Rob took on the running of the Exeter & District VA league (EDVA) in 2018 when the league had just two divisions, under his guidance the league has expanded to three mixed and two Ladies divisions. Rob organises and manages the annual fixture meetings which takes place online, for the 2025-26 season, that’s a total of 237 home and away matches between 34 teams. This also includes managing and overseeing the online results service, going through all 237 scoresheets and sorting out match issues that take place each season. In addition to this, Rob also manages the EDVA web site and social media services, not counting sorting and arranging all the EDVA annual awards and prizes. He also found time to sort out and redesign the EDVA logos recently. Rob plays a major part in the running of the Exeter Storm VC and coaches the University of Plymouth VC. Volleyball in the Devon & West Somerset area is in a healthy state, Rob’s time and expertise, is one of the major contributors to this success.
