After finishing 2nd to Bristol VC by one point it was over to the play-offs in our bid to progress to Division 1 at the first time of asking. Lincoln Cannons Men and Hounslow VC, who both narrowly missed out on automatic promotions, had the same goal. After seeing off Hounslow VC in our first fixture, the men were half we there. Hounslow provided new opposition but a 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-19) win gave us great confidence going into the second match. The second game was a slightly more hard-fought fixture. We took the first two sets (25-20, 25-19) but Lincoln came back after a dip in the third (18-25) but after refocusing we edged out the East Midlands side 25-23 and with in promotion!
That meant a winner takes all showdown between the Cannons and Hounslow, where the East Midlanders flew out of the blocks early to take a commanding lead and held on despite a fightback to edge the first set 25-23. The Division 2 North Side won the secon 25-21 before sealing their spot in Division 1.
